OPS Auto Crop is a free and convenient way to crop images before posting them to an OPS gallery. Auto Crop uses facial positioning technology to help keep crops consistent from subject to subject.
Note: Auto Crop is only available when the OrderSchoolPix URL is selected on the project’s Options page.
1. Open Auto Crop
- Post your images to the OPS project.
- Go to Subjects.
- Click the Subject Actions dropdown.
- Select Auto Crop Images.
Auto Crop can be applied at any time, even after a project has already been posted online.
2. Enable Auto Crop
- Turn Enable Auto Crop For This Project to On.
- Select a suitable master image with an average face location.
Adjust the crop box on the master image.
- Enable Crop 2 or Crop 3 if additional crops are needed.
- Click Apply to All.
3. Check Face Detection Accuracy
After applying the crop, review the images for accuracy.
- Scan through the images.
- Look for face detection errors.
- If needed, drag the red face reticle to the correct position.
- Align the reticle with the center of the nose and forehead.
The crop will follow the reticle position.
4. Multiple Crop Option
Auto Crop allows up to three different crops from the same pose. This is useful when shooting a 3/4-length image and offering multiple crop options, such as:
- 3/4 length
- Head and chest
- Head and shoulders
This is especially helpful for green screen projects because customers can purchase different cropped prints with different backgrounds.
Important: Crop 1 is the default crop and is used for Admin and Yearbook files. We recommend setting Crop 1 as a head-and-shoulders crop.
5. Auto Cropping Tools
Auto Crop includes tools below each image that allow you to:
- Set any image as the master image.
- Identify the file name and subject.
- Clear cropping from an image.
- Move through images using keyboard shortcuts.
6. Keyboard Shortcuts
- F11: Toggle full screen mode.
- B and N: Scroll images left or right individually.
- V and M: Jump a full page set left or right.
- Ctrl + F: Search by name or file name.
Everything on the Auto Crop page auto-saves.
7. Auto Crop Limitations
- Auto Crop is intended for school photography projects.
- Images should be vertical and have similar zoom/head size.
- Only vertical individual images can be cropped.
- Horizontal images, group images, and layout creator images will not be cropped.
- If using image tags, only Crop 1 can be tagged.
- Crops are constrained to a .8 aspect ratio.
- This feature is not recommended for non-school work.
8. Multiple Crop Examples
A single image can be auto cropped and displayed to customers as multiple crop options. OPS also supports multiple pose packages and background packages.
Customers can order by clicking and dragging images and backgrounds into the package’s print sizes.
